Privacy policy
Institution: Ethical Futures Institute · ethicalfutures.institute
Contact: support@ethicalfutures.institute
Legal entity (controller): Legal entity — legal name, Delaware formation, registered-office description, and administrative contact. Your counsel should confirm this block matches filings and regulator expectations in your jurisdictions.
This policy describes how we handle personal information when you use our public website, contact us by email, or apply to a program. We aim for clarity; counsel should review this text before you treat it as final for your legal entity and jurisdiction.
What we collect
- Website: We may collect standard server and security logs (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages requested, time). We do not use those logs to sell personal data.
- Email: If you write to support@ethicalfutures.institute, we keep the correspondence needed to respond and to operate the institute.
- Applications: If you use Apply, we collect the information you enter in the form (for example name, email, country, written responses, and fee-waiver selections). That information is used to evaluate admissions and to communicate with you about your application.
Service providers (subprocessors)
We use vendors to operate the site and, when you enroll, to deliver mail and accept payments. They process information for us under appropriate agreements; counsel should confirm this list and any DPA / transfer terms for your jurisdictions.
- Site hosting: The public site may be hosted on Vercel, Inc. (or a successor). Hosting involves technical data such as IP addresses and request logs needed to serve pages. See Vercel’s public documentation for how they handle service data.
- Transactional email: Application notifications may be sent through Resend (or a successor). Resend processes recipient addresses and message content needed to deliver email from our domain.
- Payments: When we accept application fees, deposits, or tuition online, payment card and bank details are collected by a PCI-DSS–compliant payment processor (we currently intend Stripe or another provider approved by counsel). We receive confirmation of payment and metadata needed for receipts, tax, and refunds—not your full card number. Checkout may load the processor’s own pages or scripts; their privacy and cookie practices apply on those screens. When checkout is live, we will name the exact processor here and link to its consumer privacy notice.
How we use information
- To respond to inquiries and operate programs you join or apply to.
- To meet legal obligations (for example tax or accounting rules where they apply).
- To protect security and integrity of our services.
We do not sell your personal information.
Legal basis (where it matters)
Depending on your location, law may require a “legal basis” for processing. We rely on contract and legitimate interests (running a selective educational program, securing our systems, and communicating with applicants) and, where required, consent (for example if we add optional marketing communications—you will be able to opt in explicitly).
Where data is processed
Processing may occur in the United States, including through service providers we use to host the site, deliver email, or process payments. If you apply from another country, your information may be transferred to the U.S. See also International applicants.
Retention
We keep application and enrollment records as long as needed for admissions decisions, program delivery, disputes, and legal requirements. Exact schedules should be set with counsel and documented internally.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing, or to object or port data. Email support@ethicalfutures.institute with requests. We may need to verify your identity.
Children
Our programs are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” line at the bottom will change when we do; material changes may also be announced by email or on the site.
